Our Commitment

The commitment agreed to by the leadership of the Murfreesboro church of Christ is to submit fully to
the pattern of the New Testament for our worship, fellowship, benevolence, and service.

We take very seriously the responsibility to insure that only sound doctrine is taught and preached to
those who attend here (Titus 2:1; 2 Tim. 4:2-4).

We will do our best according to the Scriptures to insure that “all the counsel of God” will be taught
and followed (Acts 20:27).

We will follow the New Testament pattern regarding worship (praying, singing, giving, observing the
Lord’s Supper, and preaching/teaching).

We will follow the New Testament pattern regarding the boundaries of spiritual fellowship (2 John 9-11).

We will not support missionary societies, such as the Churches of Christ Disaster Relief, Inc., but will
follow the New Testament pattern regarding benevolence (individuals and autonomous local
congregations operating individually or collectively for the good of all, to the exclusion of an entity
larger than the local church –Acts 11:29-30; Gal. 6:10; Phil. 4:15-16; Jas. 1:27).

We will follow the New Testament pattern as it pertains to endorsing those who teach the truth and
marking those who teach error (Philippians 3:17; Romans 16:17-18; Titus 3:10-11).

We will also follow the New Testament pattern regarding disciplining the erring as necessary according
to the Scriptures (Hebrews 12:5-11; 2 Thess. 3:6-14).

If you ever have any questions that warrant further Bible study, please let us know and we will be
happy to set up a time to address those questions in light of Bible truth. We are thrilled that you have
chosen to identify with us here and we look forward to serving in the kingdom together. To God be the
glory!
